SCAA is excited about its continued focus on Safety education to address the needs and challenges faced by our membership. In support of this goal, we will facilitate four Safety events throughout 2016, including three SHARE roundtables and our annual Safety Standdown Day.
The SHARE (Safety Hazard Awareness, Reporting, and Empowerment) Program continues to evolve and grow in participation. By design, this grass roots effort facilitates an open-dialogue format to allow safety data to be shared by its participants. Driven by roundtables and a web portal , SHARE allows members to address a wide range of safety challenges, with the goal of only learning a lesson once. Our SHARE roundtables in 2016 will be held in March, June and November and will include, but not be limited to, discussions on FBO Operations and Maintenance Operations. To learn more about how to participate in the SHARE Program, please refer to the SCAA website or contact any SCAA Safety Committee member.
Our 8th Annual Safety Standdown Day will be held September 12, 2016 in Carlsbad, CA. This year’s theme will focus on Expectation Bias. Our lineup of speakers will be anchored by Dr. Antonio Cortes of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, who has conducted extensive research and speaks worldwide on the topic Expectation Bias and how it affects the safety of our industry.
We look forward to your participation in any and all of our 2016 Safety programs! For more information, please reference www.socalaviation.org/safety.
